Star Battle Puzzles
What a star battle puzzle is, how the one-per-row-column-and-region rule works, and the deductions that crack it. Play a free board in your browser, new every day.
Griddle publishes three kinds of grid puzzle, and a new board in each one every day. They are pencil puzzles rather than word games: a grid, a rule, and one answer you can reason your way to without ever guessing.
Every board is checked before it is published: exactly one solution, and a route to it that needs no guess. Anything that fails either test is never used. How that works →
Each game has an Unlimited mode at four difficulties and a timed ladder, and every Daily stays in the archive. 7,041 boards so far.
No account and no download. Streaks and times are kept on your own device, and the puzzles keep working with no connection.
Every row gets one sentinel. So does every column, and so does every coloured region. The catch is that no two of them may stand next to each other, and that includes diagonally.

Fill the grid with suns and moons. Each row and each column ends up with equal numbers of both, and you can never put three of the same symbol in a line. The small "=" and "×" markers between cells tell you where two cells must match, and where they must differ.
How a binary puzzle works: two symbols, never three in a row, every line balanced. The core tactics, what the markers mean, and a free board daily.
Binairo in your browser: no download, no account, no adverts in the way. A new board every day, an endless mode beside it, and it still works with no connection.
Endless binary puzzles at easy, medium, hard and expert. No cap, no account, no repeats, and every board has one answer reachable without guessing.
Draw a single line from waypoint 1 to the highest number, picking up the numbered cells in order along the way. It has to fill every square on the board, and it can never cross itself.
How a number path puzzle works: one unbroken line through every cell, visiting the numbered waypoints in order. Tactics, traps, and a free board daily.
Draw the path in your browser. No install, no account, nothing between you and the grid. A new board daily, and it keeps working with no connection.
An endless supply of number path puzzles at four difficulties. No account, no cap, no repeats, and every board has a single route reachable without guessing.
Star battle is the one most people find readable first, because the rule is a single sentence and the deductions are about where a star cannot go rather than where it must. Binairo rewards pattern recognition and is the fastest to solve once the three rules click. Number path is the odd one out: you are drawing a single line rather than filling cells, and it is the most satisfying of the three to watch resolve.
All three are free, and none of them needs an account. If you would rather not choose, the hub shows the day’s three side by side.
A note on the name, because it catches people out. Griddle is a daily logic-puzzle site. It is not griddlers, and it does not publish nonograms or picross, which are the picture-forming puzzles solved from number clues along each row and column. Different puzzle, similar-sounding name. If nonograms are what you came for, this is not the site, and it is better to say so here than to waste your time.
Griddle has no accounts. Your streaks and stats stay on this device either way. The only question is whether we may use cookies for ads and ad measurement - and you can change your mind from the footer whenever you like.
